Some weddings take a year or more to arrange. Iain and Skye did theirs in ten weeks, and you would never have guessed it from how relaxed the day felt. A good deal of that was down to Skye's mum, whose creativity helped keep everything on track and took the pressure off the couple as the date approached.
The weather did its part too. It has been a remarkable summer for weddings, with the sun splitting the trees, and Skye's morning began in Bellshill. We collected her from there in our white Beauford Tourer, the 1930s-style convertible that suits a bright summer's day perfectly, and drove her to the registry office at Hamilton Town Hall.
A classic car and a bright morning
There is something about arriving in an open-top classic that sets the tone for the whole occasion. Dressed with ribbons and silk flowers, with our chauffeur ready ahead of time, the Beauford brought a touch of vintage elegance to the short journey into Hamilton. It was very much a classic car wedding, and the car looked at home against the town hall backdrop.
Photos among centuries-old trees
After the ceremony, the couple made the most of the gardens behind the town hall. It is a genuinely lovely setting, with trees that have stood for hundreds of years, and it gave the photographer a natural, unhurried backdrop for the pictures. The old branches and summer light made for a beautiful spot to pause before the celebrations.
From there it was on to Blantyre Victoria, where the party could properly begin. A quick turnaround, a warm summer's day, a classic Beauford and a mum who made it all come together: everything a wedding should be.
