Some mornings test your nerve. Jaqueline and David's did exactly that, with thunderstorms and torrential rain hammering down ahead of the pick-up. Then, almost on cue, the rain stopped and the sun came out as our white Beauford Tourer arrived in Penilee to collect Jaqueline. After the weather they had braced for, that timing felt like a small piece of luck on a day that already meant a great deal.

This was not a first wedding but a renewal of vows. Jaqueline and David married in a registry office twenty years ago, and this time they wanted to do it in the chapel at St Georges Penilee, surrounded by the same promise and two decades of life together behind them. The classic 1930s lines of the Beauford suited the occasion: a car with a sense of history for a couple celebrating their own.

A husband already waiting
There is something lovely about driving a bride to meet a man who is already her husband. We collected Jaqueline from Penilee and took her on to meet David, the nerves of a brand-new wedding swapped for the warmth of two people who have done this before and chose to do it again.
Reception at Wee Taits
From the chapel, the celebrations moved to Wee Taits in Ibrox, with the stadium standing tall over the venue. Jaqueline and David had taken care of everything themselves, the decoration, the food, the drink and an LED dance floor that kept the party going. With the formalities behind them, all that was left was to celebrate before setting off on a holiday to Benidorm.
It was a privilege to be part of a day twenty years in the making. Thank you, Jackie and David, and congratulations.
