The morning started with two pick-ups and a bit of coordination. Driver Michael collected the family in the eight-seat Mercedes Vito over in Bothwell, while Andy took care of the groom and his party. Megan, meanwhile, was looked after by our former Navy man, Stevie, who kept her entertained with a steady stream of stories on the way into town.
Everyone made their way towards the registry office on Montrose Street. The weather could not quite make up its mind that day, drifting from sunshine to the threat of rain and back again. Four seasons in one day, as Glasgow tends to do. It did nothing to dampen the mood.
A dress to remember
Megan turned heads in a striking black wedding dress, something a little different and entirely her own. Travelling in the Chrysler Baby Bentley, complete with ribbons and silk flowers, gave the arrival the sense of occasion it deserved.
From John Street to the Blythswood
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took time for photographs at John Street, one of the city's handsome corners. From there, Stevie drove the happy couple up to the Blythswood Hotel to begin the celebrations. It is a beautiful setting in the centre of Glasgow, and the perfect place to raise a glass after a morning of gentle chaos and good company.
With the family well looked after in the Vito and the couple travelling in style in the Baby Bentley, the transport side of the day ran quietly in the background, exactly as it should.
